Can I choose my own starting and finish point?
You are able to select any of our predetermined routes. The start and end points can be customised according to capabilities provided the support team can access the points.
How difficult is the route?
You will need to be prepared and fit. Follow a proper training program (adventure specific). YOUDOO offers support and can guide you. The routes are often technical and tough, along mountain passes with steep inclines. Some hikes feature km’s of sand and water could be scares. YOUDOO Adventures will teach you how to dig and treat water (were applicable).
How far do I walk/ride/paddle every day?
Hiking: Average 5 to 10km per day
Ride: 40 to 80km per day
Kayak Paddle: 3 to 10km per day
When is the best time to do the adventures?
Hiking: Spring and Autumn (Sep – Oct and March – May)
Riding: All year
Fishing: October – May
Is the route properly marked?
No, most adventure routes are not marked. We Adventure with GPS points and a YOUDOO Croo member/support vehicle will be with you to guide and prep you.
Is the route safe to walk/ride/fish?
We haven’t had any incidents to date. The hikes are in Kruger Park, they offer an element of Sans Park Safety. Riding and fishing are scouted out and have been tested to the best of the YOUDOO croo’s ability. Always travel in groups, never alone.
Can I participate solo?
We advise groups of 8 (MTB), 8 (Hiking), and 4 (Kayak fishing) if you are alone or fewer than the required numbers, we gather information throughout the adventures and makeup tours which could suit you.
Can I have a guide on the Adventure tour?
A YOUDOO Croo member (or two) accompanies all tours (its included)
What types of accommodation are there?
Guest houses / national parks / luxury tents / hotels. Tour specific and need dependant.
Do I need to pre-book accommodation?
No, YOUDOO Adventures takes care of all logistics – just show up on the day.
Is there accommodation upgrades available?
We have standard arrangements in place but can customise them according to your preferences.
Does all accommodation have private bathrooms?
Some hiking accommodation has communal ablutions.
Most are sharing (1 to 2 persons per room and bathroom)
Rooming
We are able to offer single rooms at an additional cost.
A twin room has 2 single beds and a double room has a double bed. Not all establishments offer 2 single beds per room so YOUDOOers might have to share a double bed when sharing a room (Tour specific). YOUDOO Adventures will be able to assist with accommodation options prior to booking.
Will I be able to do washing daily?
Some of our partners offer laundry services at an extra cost. Many times, YOUDOOers have done their own laundry (make sure you take some washing detergent with).
Can my luggage be transported?
Hiking: You will need to carry everything you require in your backpacks.
Riding: When booking your luggage is automatically transported during adventure days (If needed). This means you only need to carry a light backpack/water bottle(s), snacks, lunch pack and warm clothing.
Can you arrange airport transfers?
Yes, YOUDOO assists with transfers and transport along the route.
Are dinners, lunches and breakfasts included?
Yes, this will vary according to the type of adventure you are interested in.
Can I buy lunch/snacks daily while on the adventure route?
Hiking: No (preplanning is essential)
Riding: No (preplanning is essential)
Fishing: No (preplanning is essential)
How much water should I carry?
Depending on the activity and time of year.
We will guide you depending on your booking. YOUDOO support Croo will have additional if required.
Can I take a rest day in between activity days?
No, all activities are preplanned.
Do I need permits and permission to walk/ride/fish through private farms and nature reserves?
YOUDOO Croo will organise everything on your behalf.
Is internet and mobile reception frequently available?
On most days you will have the reception at times, but some rural areas have no reception for long stretches. It is also advisable to carry a battery pack in your backpack to ensure you have sufficient battery life on your phone. Most accommodation has WiFi. If we are ever in an area where there is limited or no signal we will have a satellite phone with us.

Can I book transport easily if I don’t want to Adventure any further?
Yes, the support Croo is on hand to assist.
What happens if I get sick or injured, or do not want to continue?
On booking, all medical aid info is to be supplied to YOUDOO adventures.
You will have 24/7 support and emergency stand-by during the adventure.
Is it possible to make changes to a reservation?
Yes, this can be discussed with the YOUDOO Croo.
Do you supply walking/riding/fishing notes and GPS pins?
Yes, all information is available on booking.
Do I receive a “What to pack list?”
When booking you will get the following preparation material:
- What to pack list
- Medication checklist
- A 12-week physical preparation program
- Detailed itinerary including accommodation, transfers and meals information.
No signal in the area?
If we are ever in an area where there is limited or no signal we will have a sat phone with us.
